Teaching Blogs to Check Out!

In my never-ending quest to obtain as much information as I can about teaching I stumbled upon a number of great blogs. There are three in specific though that stood out from the rest.

The Curriculum Corner:

As a future teacher, the best thing about this blog is everything is free. The next best thing about this blog is it gives activities that fall under the common core standards. I really liked this blog because it is very user friendly and easy to find the subject/ grade you are looking for. One of the activities that would benefit my students this quarter is “Menu Math”. It also has two different sets of cards and menus so you are able to differentiate instruction.

Organized Classroom:

If the title didn’t give it away, this blog is mainly about keeping an organized and efficient classroom. Honestly I chose this blog because I would describe myself as a ‘Type B’ person, which nine times out of ten means I slack in the organization department. I really enjoyed how the majority of Charity’s tips and DIY projects are inexpensive and can be easily incorporated into any classroom. This blog also has short videos that explain how to create some of the projects, which is nice for someone who is not artistic, like myself.

Teach Thought:

This blog has four categories: critical thinking, learning, teaching, and the future of learning; and within those four main categories there are four subcategories. Needless to say this blog is your one stop shop for information. This is one of the main reasons why I chose this blog. Not only does it discuss integrating technology into the classroom but it also discussing different learning pedagogies and how to encourage students to be critical thinkers. The blog also includes a section dedicated to parents and the parent-teacher relationship. I really enjoyed this section because it provided me with strategies on how to keep the line of communication open and how to strengthen this important relationship.
